The thing you have to know about Betsey Johnson is that she isn't making clothes for you to wear. She's making clothes for her to wear. She also puts on the single most fun show at Fashion Week each and every year. I would seriously cut someone if they tried to take my seat at this show, and I am generally pretty good at the line-waiting Zen at these events.
Speaking of lines, the guy in front of me in line to get in told me that the Betsey Johnson show is the biggest show, in terms of the size of the crowd. Betsey's granddaughter was clearly not prepared for the circus.
The clothes themselves were completely awesome, even if I'd never wear them. There were not one but two hoop skirts without skirts, a ruffled romper that would look adorable on your two-year-old niece, and a giant pink polka-dotted concoction that would really wow the judges at your next commitment hearing. I loved all of it, and can't wait until I snap completely so I can wear these clothes every day.
Oh, and continuing with our meme of You Can Tell What Designers Think of You by What They Put in Your Gift Bag ... Betsey puts underpants in hers. Specifically, she puts "Get It On Thongs!" in each and every bag. Mine was pink and had a cupcake on it.
Betsey, you see, has only your best interests at heart.
